I got a great present from the girls for Mother's Day; took them to Walmart to pick me something out for me because Nadine knew Mother's Day was tomorrow thanks to Sprout. Dean's got something already for me but Nadine was freaking out that she didn't have a gift. I love that little monkey. So she decides she wants to buy me a necklace but doesn't find anything she likes. Next she decides she's gonna buy me a shirt (I guess she's been overhearing me say I need some clothes, lol). We go and pick a few things up and go to the dressing rooms to try them on. Nadine picks this turquouise and white floral shirt that I would never pick for myself. It's very girly. I tried it on to make her happy and that was it. It was gorgeous and I fell in love with it. The best part was that it was also TOO BIG! YAY! I had to buy 1X (16) in the blouses.
Funny little polar opposites that they are, the girls could NOT agree on which blouse they wanted to get me, so selfish mommy decided each of the girls could buy me a shirt...ROFL. It IS Mother's Day, after all, right? The one Claudia got me was very pretty. I have no idea even how to describe it. It is definitely very colorful and very girly. It even has *gasp* lace on it. I love it, but I wouldn't have even picked it up if it weren't for the girls insisting I try it on. I might have even pointed and laughed at it. Maybe I should let them pick my clothes more often...
Happy Mother's Day! The shirts sound really pretty. I think all that girly-lacy-flowery stuff must be the "in" thing this season. I went in the Gap to buy some jeans about a month ago, and as far as shirts go, that was all they had! I felt the same as you, they weren't me, but I tried a few on anyway just to see what all the fuss was about, and they look really cute on.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...now there's an idea..letting your 4 and 2 year old pick out your clothes..lol. I love that you liked it after they picked it out. So your kids have taste...i bet you are sighing in relief..lol. Love you guys! Oh, btw, you deserved two shirts...you are a great mommy!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the compliment! I try so hard with the girls, and lately with Nadine being paranoid that I'm going to leave and not come back, I needed to hear it. :-)
ReplyDeleteI originally had no plans to let Claudia pick clothes. I was going to let her pick a card or balloon or flowers. I was just going through the motions of letting her pick out clothes because her taste is usually a bit too far out there for me. She likes things bright, busy, and bold. Her first sentence was, "I look ugly, Momma." She had on a plain white turtleneck...LOL!
Nadine's been picking most of her own clothes since she was 6 months old and I think she has really great taste. She used to throw things out of the buggy she didn't like. I wasn't afraid of what she would pick, but there was a moment when she saw a tinkerbell tshirt and I admit I thought she'd pick it. It was a hot pink tank top...luckily she decided she wanted a dressier shirt.
Too cute! You affirm them well with letting them pick out things and then purchasing those things.
ReplyDeleteWith the weight loss and new girly clothes, you'll be a whole new woman as you get skinnier!
You really WILL be a princess! :)
They really did love that I bought the shirts they picked out. I wore Claudia's shirt on Mother's Day and Nadine's shirt to school yesterday to take my exam. I got many compliments on it and people were shocked my 4-year-old picked it. :) Nadine has a really good eye for color and always notices what people wear. When I dress up a bit and put my makeup on she goes on and on about her pretty mommy. I eat it up, too.
ReplyDeleteThe funniest thing is that she now weighs in with me. She gets on the scale and then I do. She always says "Mine's going up and yours is going down. Everything's okay!" She's gained 3.5 pounds since I started WW.
