The Noonie Diaries

Most of you know that Nadine has had an obsession with her noonie for most of her life. We've tried several times to wean her down to nap times and night time, and it always entailed a lot of begging for the noonie (no one can pull off a pitiful "please, mommy" quite like Nadine). I decided a few days ago that if she can operate a computer (turn it on and even start her games) it was well past time it should be gone, and it is. The first night was tough if only because she pulled the "tears about to fall and lip poked out" routine with me. I stuck to it and it took half the night but she did go to sleep...with me and Tinkerbell cuddled up on either side of her. She usually sleeps in her big girl bed with Claudia, but last night she kept taking Claudia's noonie so into my bed we went. I might be cold, but taking a child's noonie in the middle of an ear infection is something I can't do. I'm out for her noonie next. I'm just not ready for the Oscar-worthy tantrums that child can throw.

What do I get for writing happily about the demise of the great and powerful noonie? Nadine appears magically at my side and throws a fit for it. *sigh* I won't give in, I won't give in, I won't give in...if only because it's just plain cruel to jerk her around with the darn thing.

I have puppies under the house for those who don't know...half-lab/half whoever was nearby but they're gorgeous rolly polly puppies. They're old enough to be bumping into things down there and barking like crazy. Claudia beats on the floor screaming "puppies puppies!!!!" like it will open up and let her see them. Zoey is very protective and doesn't let them out from under the house yet. Laid-back Zoey now doesn't let the meter man near the meter without me holding her collar and throwing a fit. It might be the best thing ever as far as her turning into a good dog. Time to fix and forget it. :)

I'm Having Too Much Fun

I've been really busy with school this fall and haven't had as much time for my girls. They're used to me always being around because I worked from home and stayed home every day with them. When I started school this fall they started going to MeMe's, Grandma's, and Lena's house. Aside from Claudia's fits when I leave in the morning, there was no sign that they really noticed a difference, and it began to hurt my heart a bit that I was so replaceable.

Fast forward to the end of the semester, and all of a sudden I'm at home all day every day. The girls have gotten *very* possessive of me to the point where they won't so much as say "hey" to MeMe or Lena in Walmart. Sometimes they don't even want Grandma, and that's saying something. I asked Nadine why they didn't want to talk to them, and Nadine said, "I want to stay with you today, Mommy." Aw now, that felt good. Sorry for the family members they shunned, but I needed it. Mommy is wanted and maybe even a little missed. Selfish, I know, but I'm going to school so they can have a better life.

Nadine's into painting and anything crafty, so we've spent most of the days making crafts that Nadine wants to show off to Daddy when he comes in. I had to give the kitten a bath because there was purple watercolor paint in her fur, but we're having too much fun. I go back to school January 7th and I'm dreading it in a way.

Holiday Gift Ideas

We keep getting asked what to get the girls for Christmas, so I figured I'd post what we know the girls like. The girls both love to be read to and so new books are always a great idea. They both like anything with the Disney Princesses on it, and Nadine is big on the Fairies, Tinkerbell in particular. Nadine still thinks the best thing to do with Barbie-type dolls is to pull their heads off and kick them like soccer balls, so I'd hold off on those for a while. Nadine also loves to draw and paint, so art supplies and such are more than welcome. Claudia is obsessed with phones and the play kitchen right now but is getting into the baby doll/momma play so anything that can go hand in hand with that is great, too.

The only real things that we don't do with the girls are Bratz and Dora the Explorer. We're not into the bilingual from birth bandwagon and prefer toys that don't cater to that.

We're Here!

Hey everyone!

We're finally here at myspace. I already have some pics up from their last birthday parties and their first Halloween. The baby on the left in the Halloween photo is my brother's little girl, Allie Grace. She's just turned 1 and was adorable in the ladybug costume. Claudia is the strawberry fairy and of course Nadine had to be a princess. Claudia wasn't liking Halloween at all at first. She was crying until a lady gave her a pack of teddy grahams. She started laughing and saying "cookies, cookies" and from then on it was a race to see what other food she could get from people. The lady and her family were laughing at how fast Claudia went from completely upset to deliriously happy, but that's Claudia. Food fixes everything, especially when it's junk food. Nadine was admiring all of the other girls' costumes. I think next year she'll end up going as a ballerina. She's all into Angelina Ballerina and was in love with every ballerina she saw.

Dean won't be back in until 12/26, so we'll have our little Christmas then. Truth be told, the girls have a lot of their Christmas from us and Grandma already. We just have a few special little things we are holding back so they'll have something to open.

That's all for now. See y'all later.
